Understand Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
Temporomandibular joint disorders are usually referred to as TMD or TMJ. If you are suffering from head or neck pain, it may originate in your jaw or mouth. Something as small as a minor misalignment of the teeth or excess muscle tension can lead to this pain. At the office of Suzanne Mericle, we can correctly diagnose any TMD or TMJ issues you may be suffering from.
Because TMD headaches are caused by muscles in the jaw tensing up from posturing the jaw in an incorrect position for long periods of time, you may find that massage therapy alleviates your symptoms briefly. However, symptoms of a TMJ headache will inevitably return, and often become more severe over time.
